Shashat Media at the Marrakech International Film Festival 2025
At the 2025 Marrakech International Film Festival, Shashat Media spoke with Clara Khoury about The Voice of Hind Rajab and the responsibility she feels in telling stories that matter.
Khoury spoke about thinking ahead to the day when her children might ask her what she did with her life. She said she would be proud to tell them that she made this film. For her, The Voice of Hind Rajab represents a commitment to using cinema with purpose, and to showing the next generation that film can still hold meaning and power.
She emphasized that telling this story was not optional, but necessary. Khoury said it is important for audiences to engage with difficult and uncomfortable subjects, even when they are hard to face. These are the kinds of stories, she believes, that cinema should be making space for.
Khoury also spoke about the wider role of film in society, saying that stories like this help remind people why cinema matters. By confronting tough realities rather than avoiding them, films can encourage reflection, conversation, and empathy.
At Marrakech 2025, Khoury made it clear that The Voice of Hind Rajab is not just a film, but a statement of belief in cinema itself, and in its ability to carry stories that demand to be seen and heard.
