Shashat Media at the Marrakech International Film Festival 2025

At the 2025 Marrakech International Film Festival, Shashat Media spoke with Anya Taylor-Joy, who is attending the festival as a jury member, a role she described as both exciting and meaningful.

Taylor-Joy said she was genuinely thrilled to be in Marrakech, explaining that she has always wanted to visit Morocco. When the opportunity came up to be part of the festival jury, she did not hesitate. “It was on her wishlist,” she said, calling the experience a rare chance to engage with cinema from a different perspective and discover new voices.

Away from the jury room, Taylor-Joy spoke about what she has been watching recently. She recommended Rick Rubin’s documentary Shangri-La, describing it as something that really stayed with her. She praised its reflective tone and the way it explores creativity, making it a standout recent watch for her.

The conversation then turned to work, and Taylor-Joy acknowledged that the year ahead is a heavy one. She revealed she has been working continuously and has a packed 2026 slate.

Among her upcoming projects is a new Apple TV+ series titled Lucky, which she described as one of her most recent and demanding roles. She also has a film titled Sacrifice on the way, as well as Dune: Messiah, the highly anticipated follow-up in Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi saga.

Despite the demanding schedule, Taylor-Joy spoke with clear enthusiasm about what lies ahead. At Marrakech 2025, she came across as both focused and grateful, balancing the intensity of her workload with excitement for new places, new stories, and new chapters in her career.
